TYPE OF RESIDENCY:

Beginning or middle of the creative process of any art discipline. Site related projects. This residency is mostly intended for practice based research or concept development, it provides a basic and common working space and does not provide working tools, therefore it is not suited for prodution stage projects. Internet based projects are not suitable for this residency as Fljótstunga would like to provide an alternative source of stimulation. Fljótstunga shares with the residents a basic way of life and through limited resourses, few external options and a close relation to nature invites artists to think about ways and reasons to work.

 

WHAT WE OFFER:

- Each artist or artistic group receives a private cottage, a basic common working space and a communal kitchen free of charge.

- Fljótstunga covers all electricity, water and gas expenses.

- Personal living items: biodegradable toilet and kitchen paper, cleaning material and detergents are also offered by Fljótstunga for no extra charge.

- Internet is limited and is offered in the common working area.

- 1 day tour to natural sights around the land is offered by Fljotstunga.

- 'Dinner table discussions' project is organized by Fljotstunga. All artists that participate in this project receive main meals free of charge.

- After the residency, deveopled projects are invited to a group exhibition in Iceland.

- Exchange workshops between residents and local community can be organized.

- Pick up service from Reykholt is offered for a 2.000 ISK fee.

- Each artist must bring their own working material, previously authorized by Fljótstunga and it must be eco-friendly.

- Transport to Fljótstunga, other personal living items and other food expences are responsibility of the artist.

- Linen and organic shampoo and soap can be obtained at Fljótstunga for an extra cost.

 

COST OF THE RESIDENCY:

- Residency fee: Free of charge

- Application fee: 35 euros

- Acceptance fee: 70 euros

- Confirmation: copy of transport ticket to Iceland

7 projects for Established Artists

6 projects for Emerging Artists

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- The Application form has a 35 euro fee. Paid through Paypal.

- This residency is for professional artists only.

- Artists are expected to retribute to the residency by either:

donation of work, leaving a sample of their work/research during the residency, or by sending a sample/copy of the final results of the work developed at the residency.

- Artists must have own funds or grants to be able to come to the residency.

 

- To apply please send an application form with the following information:

1. Application fee payment recipt

2. Personal data with contact information.

3. Profile picture.

4. Brief presentation letter: Who you are and why you want to come to this residency.

5. Information about the project you would like to develop during your stay.

6. Selection of previous work in acordance to the project.

7. Tools you intend to bring and use.

8. Links to web pages or to samples of previous work.

8. Short CV.

9. How you could contribute to the residency during and after your stay.

11. Extra funds to come to the residency.

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

- Acceptance fee 70 euros.

- Confirmation with transport ticket to Iceland.

- All artists must confirm 1 month after acceptance.

- Artists are required to develope an artistic project at Fljótstunga.

- Artists are required to document their work during their stay.

- Artists are expected to share the process of their work during their stay.

- Artists can be asked to give a workshop, a talk or a performance during their stay.

- Artists are expected to participate in the 'dinner table disscussions' and prepare at least one main meal for the rest of the residents.

- Artists must have their own funds for food during the residency excluding main meals if they participate in the Dinner table disscussions. Estimate for the 2 week stay, excluding main meal: 100 euros

- Artists must be able to arrive to Fljótstunga or be picked up at Reykholt.

Estimate cost -Keflavik airport to Reykholt and back by bus: 130 euros

Other ways to arrive to Fljotstunga are by renting a car.
