The farm has a great view and is surrounded by glaciers and lava fields. There are many actvities and natural sights in and around Fljótstunga farm:

Besides going to the lava caves you can rent a rod from us, fish at the river of the farm, pass by strange rock formations, contribute to the stone collection and cook your trout in your cottages (NOTE: please ask us about the fishing before planning your trip since the fishing is seasonal). You can hike at the lava circle hike, pass by one of the oldest sheep gathering still functioning and see the migration of the whooper swans. You can get to know the Icelandic horses that live with us and if Bjarni Johansen is around you can ask him to go on a short ride. You can go berry or mushroom picking in August and learn how to make your own jam or you can see the northern lights in September.

Beside the farm is the famous Surtshellir cave, the Hraunfossar waterfalls that come from under ground, the Arnarvatnsheiði lake phenomena, Húsafell where you can go swimming and to the hot pools or golf courses and the Langjökull glacier. This glacier is the 2nd largest in Iceland and where there are fun activities to be found; dog sledding, snowmobile tours and a bus that takes you all the way to the top of the glacier.

On the way to the farm you can see Deildartunguhver, Europe's most productive hot spring, Reykholt, the historic home of 13th century writer Snorri Sturluson or you can also come by the Golden circle.

As we only offer breakfast in Fljótstunga, we highly recommend bringing some food with you (which you can cook in your cottage), especially if you plan on staying in Fljótstunga for more than 2 nights (there are not many shops around).
