Up to 2 weeks.

Application deadline is 13th of November 2014.

 

FINAL RESULTS

(POSTED ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THE RESIDENCY):

FIRST RESULTS: 8th of December 2014.

SECOND RESULTS: 29th of December 2014.

FINAL RESULTS: 26st of January 2015.

CONFIRMATION:

 

After you receive your acceptance you must pay your 7.000 ISK per person acceptance fee and confirm your spot with a copy of your ticket to Iceland. Your ticket must correspond to the dates in which you are accepted. We recommend you arrive to the Keflavik airport early moring of the day your residency starts or stay in Reykjavik the day before. Your spot can be handed to another applicant if you do not confirm your spot with your tiket 1 month after your acceptance.

 

DETAILS:

 

Applicants are accepted for a specific period depending on the project. Your residency starts on the first day of the period at 6:40pm and ends at 1:00pm on the last day of the period:

 

- Additional period: 16th to 30th of April
- 1st period: 30th to 14th of May
- 2nd period:14th to 28th of May
- 3rd period: 28th of May to 11th of June

Each period can accept up to 7 projects.

 

We highly recommend you stay in Reykjavik a few days after your residency as Fljótstunga is very isolated.

 

WHAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR STAY:

 

- Approx. 20.000 ISK for food expences for the 2 week stay per person (recommended).

You will need to do your shopping for your entire stay in Reykjavik or Borgarnes before arriving to Fljótstunga. There are no shops nearby.

 

Each artist is asked to cook a main meal for the rest of the artists. This means that you do not need to buy food for all of your main meals. We recommend you calculate food for everyday breakfast and lunch and 1 or 2 main meals. When accepted you will be informed of the amount of people you need calculete your main meal for.

 

- Working material must be brought by each artist (there are no shops nearby) previously authorized by Fljótstunga, and it must be eco-friendly.

 

- Personal items such as shampoo, soap or other products must also be biodegradable.

 

-  Transport to Fljótstunga:

a) If you have requested to be picked up from Reykholt you must take a bus from the airport to Reykjavik and then from Reykjavik to Reykholt. Approx. cost 5.000 ISK

We can pick you up from Reykholt for 2.000 ISK at 6:40pm

Please calculate around 5 hours for this whole procedure.

 

b) Rent a car at the airport or in Reykjavik, we can put you in contact with other residents of the same period in case you would like to share the costs.

 

DETAILS ON HOW TO ARRIVE TO FLJÓTSTUNGA FARM:

 

By bus:

From the Keflavik airport take a bus to Reykjavik city that takes 1 hour. You will need to take a city bus to Ártún bus stop in the outsides of Reykjavik,  to take the 57 bus to Borgarnes. The 57 bus takes 1 1/2 hour to arrive to Borgarne.  We recommend to do your shoping for your suppies in Borgarnes. You then need to take the only bus to Reykholt, bus 81, that leaves at 6:00pm. This bus takes 40min.

 

We can pick you up from Reykholt at 6:40pm on the first day of your residency period and take you to Fljótstunga which is 30min away.

 

We recommend you arrive a day before to Reykjavik or early morning to the Keflavik airport. Consider that it is normal to take at least 1 hour in the supermarket as you are shoping for at least 1 week food suply.

 

For your return you must book your flight at least 1 day after the end of your Residency in order to be able to catch a flight. You will need to take the only bus from Reykholt to Borgarnes at 6:40pm and arrive in Reykjavik at 9:30pm

 

By car:

 

Take the road to reykjavik. From Reykjavik take road 1 direction to Akurery. Right before arriving to the Borgarnes town you will see a bridge. Take a right rurn on to the road 50 before taking the bridge. Follow this road that eventually becomes road 518. The farm is at the end of this road.

 

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL COSTS AT THE RESIDENCY:

 

- Linen and towels can be rented at Fljótstunga for a 5.000 ISK fee.

- Ecological shampoo and soap can be bought for 2.000 ISK fee.

- Day tours around the area, or shopping trips to Borgarnes for supplies, can be arranged by Fljótstunga for a 5.000 ISK fee.

- Tours to the lava cave. Artist price 2.000 ISK fee

 

Entrence fees to places around Fljótstunga:

- Swimming 700 ISK

- Goat farm 1.000 ISK

- Medieval Center 1.500 ISK
